Edison Angels
Recreation League Divisions
Angels on Deck
This is our clinic division made up of 5 and 6 year olds*. Angels on Deck players meet on Saturday mornings for a two hour session. They practice the basics of throwing, catching, hitting, and the rules of softball. Each team will also play in a bat-a-round where each team will get a chance to bat and play in the field. Once one team has gone through their batting lineup, they switch with the team in the field. Each player should bring their own glove and wear either sneakers or cleats. All players will receive a jersey and hat.
Peewees
This age group is made up of seven year olds. Peewees practice once a week and play games on Friday nights and Saturday mornings. Games last for 6 innings or a 1-1/2 hour time limit. Each half inning will end after the team in the field makes 3 outs or the team at bat scores 5 runs. The teams will use an 11 inch safety "Incrediball" for practices and games. Coaches for the team at bat will pitch to their own players. There are no strike outs or walks. If a batter has not hit after 3 hittable pitches, a batting tee will be used. A coach for the team in the field will catch. No girls will sit out while their team is in the field, everyone plays. It will be the coach's responsibility to rotate his players so that they have a chance to play a different position each inning. No standings are kept for the Peewee division. Games will be umpired by players from the senior division.
*Players in Angels on Deck may be moved up to the Peewee division and players in Peewees may be moved up the Minor division based on their ability to play.
